Lunch at Knotts

Spurs Chop House
8039 Beach Blvd
Buena Park, CA 90620

The family and I were spending the day at Knott's Berry Farm and needed a place to eat lunch. Inside the park map was an insert for an all you can eat BBQ lunch buffet at Spurs Chop House which is located inside the park. So we all thought what the heck, you can't go wrong with all you can eat BBQ. We recently became season pass holders at Knott's Berry Farm so the cost of the meal was $19.99 per adult and $11.99 for my kid. Drinks and dessert are included in the price.

The options for food were burgers, hot dogs, Mrs. Knott fried chicken, BBQ beef ribs and a few assortments of salad and fruit. I stood line to find that there were no more tomatoes, no more salad and had to wait for burger patties to be brought out. The actual burger was good. It was cooked through, still juicy and full of smokey grilled flavor. The chicken at Knott's Berry Farm is always good and this was no exception. The chicken thigh I got was hot and moist with a crispy skin. The beef rib was meaty and tender. The BBQ sauce was sweet and tangy. The rib it self was sloppy goodness that will cover you in sauce. I also grabbed a spoon of BBQ beans which had a bit too much tomato flavor for me.

The food it self was good and the meal was just fine. My problem was with the buffet. The staff did not keep the food trays stocked so this meant people were waiting for the items they wanted or just went without. Eventually the items would get filled again but the more popular items would quickly disappear again. For example I was waiting for a piece of pie after my meal and the pie table was empty. When the staff member with fresh slices of pie came out people were grabbing slices before the staff member could even get them on the table. Was kind of crazy but it is what it is.

A bit of advice to Spurs Chop House would be to make the drinks self serve or have more then one person working that area, a five minute wait to get a single drink is silly. Make sure the kitchen is better prepared for the lunch time rush. Being at a amusement park food is at a premium and a all you can eat buffet is a good deal. People will easily choose this option over many others because the price is not much more then some single meal options in the park.

Overall the meal at Spurs Chop House was fine. The food was good and the entire family walked out of there full. We did not have to spend any more money on food the entire day. My only issues were the food timing and quantities. If those things can be corrected then I think the all you can eat BBQ buffet at Spurs would be a much better experience for the guests.
